SIPA's Registered SIP Builder Program offers training and distinction for installers of structural insulated panels. SIPA Registered SIP Builders and Master SIP Builders have the knowledge and training to construct SIP building enclosures that are safe, durable, and energy efficient.
See the SIPA membership directory for a list SIPA Registered Master SIP Builders.
Enrolling in the SIPA Registered Builder Program is a great way to market your company as a trained SIP installer. Registered SIP Builders can use the SIPA Registered Builder logo in their marketing materials and indicate their designation on their online membership profile.
There are two levels of training in the SIPA Registered Builder Program. To become a SIPA Registered Builder, participants must complete the online BEST training program offered through SIPA's website.
After completing the online training program, builders can advance to become a SIPA Registered Master Builder by attending a hands-on training workshop and submitting a blower door test from a completed SIP project. SIPA offers two alternative compliance options for builders that have more than five years of experience working with SIPs or have attended the SIPschool’s SIPs 301 Installation for SIPs Professionals course.
Option A - Online Training
There are three different compliance options for becoming a SIPA Registered Master Builder.
Option A – Builders that are new to SIPs
Choose this option if you are new to SIP construction and/or would like to learn more about SIP construction through the online study.
Builders will be considered a “builder in training” until the blower door test and Registered Builder Checklist are submitted. Upon completion of the program, the builder will receive the following year’s SIPA builder membership at no charge.
Option B – Existing SIPA members and experienced SIP builders
This option is for builders who have been working with SIPs for more than 5 years or have constructed a minimum of 10 SIP buildings. Applicants must demonstrate competency through an online test and describe their SIP construction experience. The application is subject to review by the SIPA Education Committee.
Option C – Certified Installer (SIPs 301) graduate
This option is only for builders that have attended the SIPschool’s SIPs 301 Installation for SIPs Professionals course. Attendees are given one year of SIPA builder membership at no charge.
