The owners wanted a SIP building, I did not have to sell the concept.  Being a long established SIP builder and timber framer they sought me out.

SIP wall thickness: 6" EPS
SIP roof thickness: 10" EPS

The biggest benefit was energy savings, it's not unusual to be over 100 degrees in he summer.  We also saved of framing labor and and have straight plumb walls that are much harder to achieve with stick construction.  With the ship lap interior stick framing would have been much more difficult to work with.

We have a 5' crawl space with a concrete slab. That was expensive but a dream for the HVAC, vacuum system, audio visual, Internet and electrical contractors.  There are timber frame trusses in the great room.

We exceeded California's strict green building code standards

HVAC system: Heat pump.

This is a 20 acre site with existing barn and solar panels that are incorporated into the new home.

All finishes in California are low -VOC

This project was built in a high fire danger area of California and has fireproof Hardie siding and standing seam metal roof.  The SIP roofing does not require venting and greatly reduces sparks getting int oattics and starting fires.
