Describe the end use of the building:
The Weaver spec home is an up-scale 4-bedroom, single family home.
How did SIP construction help you get this job?
The builder is a repeat customer. When he saw the house plan with numerous vaulted ceilings, he knew immediately that SIP construction was the best way to build this home.
SIP wall thickness and core material: A combination of 6" and 8" walls with EPS core
SIP roof thickness and core material: A 12" roof with EPS core
Describe the benefits of using SIPs on this project. Did SIPs help save time, labor, construction costs, or energy?
By building with SIPs, the builder saved on labor costs, realized less material waste, and reported less cost heating the structure once it was enclosed.
They started construction during the winter; the ability to get the home enclosed quickly was crucial.
The result is an extremely energy efficient, air tight home that will cost less to operate than a stick-framed home of the same size.
Describe any innovative design elements or structural engineering involved:
The engineered beams and columns make it possible to have open living spaces, and true vault Cathedral ceilings.
Describe the HVAC system used on the project:
The home is heated with an energy efficient, propane-fueled forced air furnace and fireplace. The home is cooled with an energy efficient central AC unit.
Describe any other energy-saving materials used in the building envelope other than SIPs. List U-values of windows used and the U or R-value of any insulation materials:
The windows are energy efficient, Pella Impervia argon-filled windows with a maintenance free finish.
Please list any energy-efficient products or design features, such as lighting, hot water heating, appliances, passive solar:
LED lights are installed throughout the interior and exterior of the home.
Any additional comments on the project:
The exceptionally designed home features a master suite on each level, hardwood floors, maintenance-free Smart siding, energy-efficient appliances, Porte Cochere, and an expansive deck and balcony that overlook a scenic pond off the 5th green, with mountain views to the east and west. The spec home that was completed in September was sold by November 4th for $1.3M
