Energy-efficient construction was the goal for a local convenience store. 7-Eleven stores decided to built using SIPs, Insulated Panel, that would help lower energy utilization with it's 8" thickness. SIPs are large, factory-made wall and roof components comprised of wood sheathing structural laminated to a rigid foam insulation core. The sheathing and core work together as an engineered system capable of supporting loads commonly found in light commercial buildings.
- SIP-built structures are more airtight than stick-framed buildings
- SIPS provide continuous insulation throughout a building’s walls and roof
- SIP-built retail stores look no different than stores built with traditional construction, preserving the signature architecture of national and regional chains
- SIPs help speed up construction
- SIPs are compatible with nearly any type of building system, including poured concrete or block foundations
