Describe the end use of the building:
Office Building to serve as the Headquarters for North Point Outdoors to coordinate their Landscape, Snow Removal, and Building Construction operations. A section is set up as command central with multiple TV monitors and state of the art software to observe/control snow plowing operations. It will also be their Training Center.
How did SIP construction help you get this job?
SIP construction is the reason EPS was able to contract this project and the North Point Outdoors Warehouse/Shop located next to the office. It was in the design phase with another company to be constructed as a Pre-Engineered Post Frame building. EPS presented Pre-Engineered SIP building options for both the office and 60'x206' Warehouse/Shop. Dave Fairburn was impressed and we moved forward on both buildings. North Point already had a construction crew for residential projects and proceeded to train their crew to do the construction. North Point has become an Authorized EPS Dealer and is now marketing SIP buildings to their customers.

Describe the benefits of using SIPs on this project. Did SIPs help save time, labor, construction costs, or energy?
While Designing the building one of their major goals was to construct a highly energy efficient building. When considering all the steps needed to be taken with conventional framing NP estimates SIPS reduced the erection labor of the building by 35% compared to traditional stick framing/installation and sheathing. NP took advantage of using BCX plywood faced sips in the roof and exposed trusses to create a unique interior finish which also contributed to that time savings. The buildings were constructed in a highly visible Commercial subdivision in the center of Derry, NH and will serve as models for other businesses throughout Southern NH. They attracted significant attention during construction.
Describe any innovative design elements or structural engineering involved:
The complete structure was supplied and engineered to local code by Energy Panel Structures. Only exception is the exposed top chord mounted redwood 2nd floor trusses supplied direct by Redbuilt. The interior plywood facing of the SIP roof panels with battens over the seams provides the finished 2nd floor ceiling. Exposed 2-ply scissor trusses @ 8' o.c. provides the structural support for the SIP roof overlay. Neopor foam is used in the roof panels. 100% all SIP envelope. There is a 2-story vaulted Entry/Reception area. SIP spline connections required special engineering at the Glass wall. All headers are factory supplied insulated headers.
Describe the HVAC system used on the project:
York 96% Forced Air Heat/AC distributed through exposed ducting (2) LifeBreath HRV Units
Describe any other energy-saving materials used in the building envelope other than SIPs. List U-values of windows used and the U or R-value of any insulation materials.:
Pella Impervia Windows U-Factor .27 to .31 pending window style Pella Impervia Doors U-Factor .25
Please list any energy-efficient products or design features, such as lighting, hot water heating, appliances, passive solar:
LED Lighting
All Circuits on Motion Sensors Rannai On Demand Water Heater Natural Gas Stove
Frigidaire Energy Star Appliances
Were any solar panels installed on the project? If so, indicate the size of the system:
Project Phase 2 Includes Design Planning for installation of (2) Solar Trees & A Wind Turbine to provide 100% of electrical needs as well as a Tesla PowerWall
Any additional comments on the project:
North Point Outdoors has made a significant investment to promote SIP Buildings through the construction of both their new 5500 sq ft office and 12,360 sq ft Shop/Warehouse. They are now in a position to market and construct similar buildings for other businesses in the area. The unique SIP roof system expands design options for SIP roofs. Dave Fairburn a Principle owner at North Point has been extremely focused in effort to make the buildings a success.
