How did SIP construction help you get this job?
SIPS was selected due to the aggressive construction schedule and high performance requirements
SIP wall thickness and core material: 6" EPS (18" mail base insulation applied) 27,600 s/f of panels
SIP roof thickness and core material: 10" EPS 15,632 s/f of panels
Describe the benefits of using SIPs on this project. Did SIPs help save time, labor, construction costs, or energy?
Reduced construction time and labor costs. SIPS were highly energy efficient and became an integral part of the wall and roof system.
Describe any innovative design elements or structural engineering involved:
We were able to use the SIP system for the shear rather than a moment frame system which allowed us to provide larger storefront openings at the ground level.
Please list any certifications the project received, such as ENERGY STAR, LEED, National Green Building Standard, WELL, Passive House, Green Globes or local green building programs:
Met T24 and Cal Green requirements
Describe the HVAC system used on the project:
Mixed between conventional packaged roof top units and split system units
Describe any other energy-saving materials used in the building envelope other than SIPs. List U-values of windows used and the U or R-value of any insulation materials:
The SIPS system became an integral part of the building's exterior envelope system; meeting T24 and Cal Green requirements
Were any solar panels installed on the project? If so, indicate the size of the system:
No solar panels were installed as part of the project. However, the roof system was designed for future installation of solar panels.
