SIPs assisted the project to achieve the level of energy efficiency and durability the homeowner wanted. This home was designed with "aging in place" (Universal Design) in mind as being the homeowners last place to live. Having low energy costs with reduced mechanical sizes and low maintenance were important concerns of the homeowners to be able to sustain the remaining years as well as accessibility to the living space. It also helped having less subcontractors and material onsite on a tight lot since the project coordination on-site was performed primarily by the
homeowners.
