The Ancient Lore Village is a unique fantasy themed village retreat.
Building End Use:
This project involved the construction of a unique themed unit at Ancient Lore Village, a fantasy-inspired retreat nestled in the foothills of the Smoky Mountains (https://www.ancientlorevillage.com/). The Village offers a captivating escape for guests, providing dining, entertainment, and various activities for a truly immersive experience.
SIP Specifications:
- Wall: 4 5/8" total thickness with 3 3/4" EPS Core.
- Roof: 10 1/4" total thickness with 9 3/8" EPS Core.
Benefits of Using SIPs:
The decision to utilize Structurally Insulated Panels (SIPs) in conjunction with the timber frame construction proved advantageous on multiple fronts:
- Swift Construction: SIPs panels arrived pre-cut, routed, and ready for immediate installation, significantly accelerating the construction timeline. This ensured the unit's speedy completion, allowing guests to enjoy the Village's charm sooner.
- Enhanced Energy Efficiency: SIPs create a tight building envelope, minimizing energy loss and leading to significant cost savings. This is particularly crucial for rental units where climate control might not be directly managed by the owner. By optimizing energy efficiency, the Village minimizes operational costs while ensuring guest comfort.
Innovative Design and Engineering:
- Curved Roofline: The timber frame incorporated numerous subtle angles to achieve a desired rounded roof effect. These angles facilitated the creation of a smooth curve once the finishing materials were applied.
- Precise SIP Integration: The angled cuts on the SIPs were meticulously crafted to ensure a seamless and rapid installation process, further contributing to the overall construction efficiency.
Sustainable Considerations:
- Recycled Content: ACME Panel utilizes a manufacturing facility powered primarily by solar panels, minimizing their environmental footprint. Additionally, panel waste is recycled and repurposed, fostering sustainable practices.
Project Significance:
This project exemplifies the unique design possibilities facilitated by SIPs. ACME Panel took immense pride in contributing to this exciting and unconventional project at Ancient Lore Village.
