The building will serve as an eco-conscious and ultra-efficient residential property.

This home was actually designed with the intention of building with SIPs. The homeowner had experience with SIPs in the past and appreciates the importance of sustainable, high-performance building.

SIP roof thickness: 12 1/4”

The roof panels needed for this project were significantly large and Extreme Panel Technologies provided 8x24ft panels that fit perfectly. They were craned into place on top of the superstructure and served as a monolithic layer of insulation for the entire building envelope. SIPs were the ideal solution for this home and saved the homeowner time and money while keeping them from having to compromise on the overall design.

Structural engineering was key as every detail was specified with a maximum efficiency mindset. The roof of the structure was designed as a modern flat roof and includes large overhangs to help achieve additional savings on utilities by creating a uniform thermal envelope.

HVAC system:
A Mitsubishi 8-pump VRF system is being used to temperature control the home. A 3.5-ton system was recommended for a home of this size, butdue to the airtight quality of the SIPs, the builder was able to use a system half the size.
