Single family residence: the added protection of the 200 MPH rated Innova High Impact MGO SIP was a benefit that helped sell this project to the client. This project was hit by a tornado with 200 MPH plus winds recorded with only minor siding and two cracked impact windows damaged. There was no damage to the building envelope. See University of Florida report on the Tornado for further information as to how this home outperformed over 80 conventional build homes subjected to the same tornado.
SIP wall thickness and core material: 6 3/4" and 8 1/2" high impact MGO SIP - EPS core
SIP roof thickness and core material: 10 1/2 MGO / OSB SIP Roof panels
The Innova HIP MGO SIPs used on this home are Dade County approved and tested at wind speeds that exceed 240 MPH. The performance of this home when subjected to tornado force winds justifies the substantial and superior strength of homes constructed with this building system.
OSB / MGO SIP Panels were approved for the project by the local building authority. Innova HIP MGO SIP walls were approved by the local building authority. The SIP Panels for this project were designed to meet seismic zone 3.
