Describe the end use of the building: Private residence

How did SIP construction help you get this job?
Been a believer in SIPs since being introduced to them, Pre-engineering is great. Ease of installation, air tightness, less sealing that conventional framing

SIP wall thickness and core material: 6" Neopor    R30
SIP roof thickness and core material: 10" Neopor R-50
Describe the benefits of using SIPs on this project. Did SIPs help save time, labor, construction costs, or energy?
Saved times, roof panels enabled this project to get closed in faster, less utility costs during build. With this home being on Lake Superior's North Shore, Energy efficiency as well as air tightness were attributing factors.

Describe any innovative design elements or structural engineering involved:
Large laminated beams make up the floor structure, there is also a below ground wine storage. House is situated on North Shore of Lake Superior with great views in all directions.

Please list any certifications the project received, such as ENERGY STAR, LEED, National Green Building Standard, WELL, Passive House, Green Globes or local green building programs. Only list certifications that are completed:
Large Southern windows allow for natural heating in the winter, large trees allow extra cooling in the summer

HERS Index: Estimated 28

Blower door test results: 0.89 ACH50

Describe the HVAC system used on the project:
Heating: Dual fuel, in-floor, radiant heat. Primary heat source for the hydronic fluid is an interruptible Slant Fin Monitron electric boiler (100% efficient). The secondary source is a Navien propane boiler (95% efficient) which also serves as a secondary source of domestic hot water. EcoTech air exchanger provides outside air.

Describe any other energy-saving materials used in the building envelope other than SIPs. List U-values of windows used and the U or R-value of any insulation materials:
Loewen Windows and doors U-27

Please list any energy-efficient products or design features, such as lighting, hot water heating, appliances, passive solar:
LED lighting

Please list any sustainable materials or design features not listed above, such as recycled materials, low-VOC finishes, landscaping, etc.:
Low Voc Paints,

Any additional comments on the project:
This was fun project, location is beautiful, it has a below ground wine storage, with the home being supported by large exterior glu-lam beams. There is a walkout deck over the kitchen area that allows for entertaining and simply great viewing of the lake, The view is breathtaking, The home is very efficient, quite and withstands the harsh winds of lake Superior.
