ShaneCon Construction had previous experience with SIP construction and was valuable in the owner's decision making process. With this project being an addition as 4th level to an existing 3 story masonry building, SIP panels allowed reduced crane time and labor and therefore costs vs. conventional framing and insulating the project. Also it was constructed during winter, so SIPs allowed the interior to be easily heated with minimal energy during mechanical rough-ins. With conventional construction the insulation would not have been able to be installed until the mechanical rough-ins were completed also saving time. The entire structure was supported on a steel frame on top of the existing timber columns and masonry. SIP panels were used for the floor, walls and ceiling.
