How did SIP construction help you get this job?
Reduced Material and Labor Cost, Superior Performance to meet Passive House Standard,
Integrated engineering design of roof trusses and SIP Roof panels
SIP wall thickness and core material: R-40 Graphite Composite walls
SIP roof thickness and core material: R-40 EPS panel with additional R-26 nailbase layer
Describe the benefits of using SIPs on this project. Did SIPs help save time, labor, construction costs, or energy?
Yes. The roof framing required fewer trusses, therefore reducing material and labor costs. Air Tightness is very important for Passive House standard and the integrated air barrier provided by SIP walls and roof made the process faster, easier, and more successful.
Describe any innovative design elements or structural engineering involved:
Floor System hung on panel interior to reduce thermal bridging and maintain continuous insulation layer. Energy Heel with zero truss overhang to allow roof panels to tie-in directly to roof panels at truss end.
List any certifications the project received, such as ENERGY STAR, LEED, National Green Building Standard, WELL, Passive House, Green Globes or local green building programs. Only list certifications that are completed:
PHIUS Passive House Certified
Blower door test results (ACH50): 0.5 ACH50
Describe any other energy-saving materials used in the building envelope other than SIPs. List U-values of windows used and the U or R-value of any insulation materials:
Alpen High Performance Windows and Doors. U-Value 0.11
