Describe the end use of the building:
Residential - single family home

How did SIP construction help you get this job?
We absolutely "rock it" when it comes to energy use per square foot, and SIPS are a key part of our strategy.

SIP wall thickness and core material: 5.5" core graphite-infused SIPs

SIP roof thickness and core material: 9.25" core graphite-infused SIPs

Describe the benefits of using SIPs on this project. Did SIPs help save time, labor, construction costs, or energy?
Faster build time, tighter building envelope, better indoor air quality, better insulation values, vapor-proof (condensation-free) wall and roof assemblies.

Describe any innovative design elements or structural engineering involved: We tucked this daylight-basement home into the side of a hill, using ICFs for the below-grade foundation walls, and SIPs for all else.

Please list any certifications the project received, such as ENERGY STAR, LEED, National Green Building Standard, WELL, Passive House, Green Globes or local green building programs. Only list certifications that are completed:
US DOE Zero-Energy Ready, EPA Indoor Air Plus, Energy Star

HERS Index: 49 without PV

Blower door test results: 0.47 ACH50

Energy use intensity in kBtu/ft2: With a 16˚F design degree day,

Describe the HVAC system used on the project:
HVAC system is a Daikin Ductless heat pump, COP 3.31

Describe any other energy-saving materials used in the building envelope other than SIPs. List U-values of windows used and the U or R-value of any insulation materials:
The Ang home used PlyGem HP3-Max windows, with an average U-value of .22. The ICF foundation features R-22.5 of insulation in the walls, and R-20 rigid foam insulation under the slab. The main floor features a 3" concrete thermal mass slab over wood framing for heat retention from day-to-night. This feature alone will save up to 22% of the total heating load on an annual basis.

Please list any energy-efficient products or design features, such as lighting, hot water heating, appliances, passive solar:
100% LED lighting, Energy-Star Appliances, building was oriented to optimize both passive and active solar systems, roof was designed to hold up to 18kW of solar panels, though just 6.75kW would get it to zero-energy, leaving enough additional capacity to power at least three electric cars for more than 12,000 miles per year each.

Were any solar panels installed on the project? If so, indicate the size of the system:
Solar panels have been engineered into the project, and infrastructure is in place, but installation has not happened yet.

Please list any sustainable materials or design features not listed above, such as recycled materials, low-VOC finishes, landscaping, etc. (judged only for High Performance Category): Hard-plank siding and Hardi-trim were used for extended durability of all exterior surfaces. 100% zero-VOC paints and finishes were used throughout, and all landscaping is using native plants, shrubs, and trees.

Any additional comments on the project:
SIPs gets it done, every time.
