Attendees can earn eight AIA Continuing Education Learning Units free of charge
The Structural Insulated Panel Association (SIPA) Annual Meeting & Conference convenes on April 29–30, in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Keynote speakers include Sam Rashkin, Department of Energy (DOE) Chief Architect, and Ron Jones, Green Builder Media founder. Additional sessions explore the advantages of retrofit insulated panels as the backbone of deep energy retrofits; an exploration of metal, cementitious and alternative SIP skin materials; a LEEDv4 overview with author Michelle Cottrell; energy modeling to meet new energy codes and more.
Attendees have the opportunity to earn up to eight AIA Continuing Education Learning Units on structural insulated panel (SIP) construction and other aspects of high performance, hurricane-resistant building design.
Rashkin will also be presenting a four-hour DOE Challenge Home course on zero net-energy-ready home construction aimed at builders and architects.
“Our mission is to educate the building community that SIPs are the most adaptable, high-performance green building system for any climate,” said Al Cobb, SIPA President.
“This year we will be inviting experts on SIPs made with metal, cementitious, magnesium oxide, and hybrid skins to explain how these technologies can contribute to energy-efficient and durable structures,” he adds.
The annual event hosts manufacturers, builders, architects and other building industry professionals interested in the growing technology of SIPs, a high performance panelized building system used in energy-efficient homes and commercial buildings.
Other conference highlights include an industry trade show, networking opportunities, daily raffles, the Wayne Kondor Memorial Golf Tournament, and a showcase of innovative SIP projects during the SIPA Building Excellence Awards.
All events take place at the Fort Lauderdale Marriott Pompano Beach Resort & Spa, a new beachfront resort offering a relaxing experience for families and business travelers. Guests can take advantage of the full spa, soak in ocean views, enjoy beach access, fine dining and more.

The Structural Insulated Panel Association (SIPA) is a non-profit association dedicated to increasing the use and acceptance of structural insulated panels (SIPs) in green, high performance building by providing an industry forum for promotion, communication, education, quality assurance, and technical and marketing research. SIPs are a high performance, panelized building system that offers superior thermal performance, air tightness, and durability for energy-efficient homes and commercial buildings.
Builders and design professionals seeking to reduce energy use and minimize the carbon footprint of their buildings utilize SIPs as a cost-effective solution for exterior wall and roof systems that also cuts down on framing time, lessens construction waste, and ensures greater jobsite quality control through prefabrication. SIPs are an enabling technology to meet to the Architecture 2030 Challenge for net-zero carbon neutral buildings today. Learn more at www.sips.org.
