This virtual walkthrough of the Cool Energy House offers insight into the process of conducting a deep energy retrofit on an existing home. The project is sponsored in part by the U.S. Department of Energy’s Building America program to serve as an educational tool on energy-efficient remodeling.
The improvements to this Windermere, Florida home have reduced energy consumption by more than 50 percent. One of the major contributors to the energy reduction was the use of structural insulated panels (SIPs) from FischerSIPS made with BASF Neopor insulation for the garage walls and two-story addition.
