Demystifying Zero – AIA Credit Available (Sponsored by SIPA)

Webinar hosted by Green Builder Magazine and sponsored by SIPA – Wednesday, April 15, 2020, 2:00pm ET
A sustainable future for Earth’s 9 billion human inhabitants involves energy-efficient buildings. Consider that buildings in the U.S. account for over 40 percent of carbon emissions and 75 percent of electricity consumption. Scientists say environmental conditions are reaching a critical stage. That is why a ‘Zero Energy Buildings Imperative’ must be our new reality.

It’s time to demystify and provide clear guidance on options to achieve zero energy buildings. The April 15 webinar features Sam Rashkin, Chief Architect - U.S. DOE Building Technologies Office, is the author of the book titled “Retooling the U.S. Housing Industry: How It Got Here, Why It’s Broken, and How to Fix It” that presents a comprehensive strategy for transforming the new homebuyer consumer experience.

Sam has earned a national reputation for his work leading housing programs that have partnered with home builders and resulted in the construction of over one million certified high-performance homes, including many built using SIPs.

One example of a SIP home is the Dalgliesh Residence (or Lake View Home) built in Anacortes, WA. This home with HERS rating of 44 without solar panels (-12 with solar panels) and a blower door test score of 1.06 ACH50, is one of 10 zero-energy SIP homes Ted Clifton, of Clifton View Homes, has built since 2013 that have won the DOE zero-energy ready designation. It was entered in the 2020 SIPA Building Excellence Awards competition in the Single Family Homes Under 3,000 sq. ft. category, and is recognized as a High Performance Runner-Up in that category. Congrats to Premier Building Systems (SIP panel manufacturer) and Clifton View Homes and Zero Energy Plans (designer and builder) for another exceptional high-performance project.
