Lake Chelan Building Supply
Just over a year ago Lake Chelan Building Supply in Washington State burned down in 2015 due to a devastating forest fire. The needed to rebuild the destroyed showroom with a smarter system designed to help avoid and defend against future fire related disasters.
This project is a great example of how a very traditional craftsman-style home can be constructed using structural insulated panels (SIPs), at the same time achieving futuristic energy efficiencies. The remarkable HERS rating of -19 is one of the lowest achieved to date.
There are also not many builders in the area who were SIP panel proponents other than using them for the roof. In our case, discussions with Extreme Panels sold us on the advantages on the use of the SIP panel so choosing the architect and builder was an important step. It's imperative that they have a solid relationship with the panel manufacturer. Both of them made numerous comments on how well the panels were made and how knowledgeable the customer service reps at Extreme were.
