Architects, contractors, and other building industry professionals can learn the latest technology in high performance and net zero energy construction with a series of free training seminars on April 30 at the Structural Insulated Panel Association (SIPA) Annual Meeting & Conference in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Six AIA Continuing Education HSW hours are available by attending seminars covering zero energy ready home design and advanced structural components like cross-laminated timbers.
All events take place at the Fort Lauderdale Marriott Pompano Beach Resort & Spa as part of the SIPA Annual Meeting & Conference—an industry event focused on structural insulated panels (SIPs), a high performance panelized building system. Beginning on April 29, the conference opens with Keynote speaker Ron Jones, the Co-Founder and President of Green Builder Media. Additional sessions explore the advantages of retrofit insulated panels as the backbone of deep energy retrofits; an exploration of metal, cementitious and alternative SIP skin materials; a LEEDv4 overview with author Michelle Cottrell; energy modeling to meet new energy codes and more.
“Our mission is to educate the building community that SIPs are the most adaptable, high-performance green building system for any climate,” said Al Cobb, SIPA President.
“This year we will be inviting experts on SIPs made with metal, cementitious, magnesium oxide, and hybrid skins to explain how these technologies can contribute to energy-efficient and durable structures,” he added.
Other conference highlights include an industry trade show, networking opportunities, daily raffles, the Wayne Kondor Memorial Golf Tournament, and a showcase of innovative SIP projects during the SIPA Building Excellence Awards.

The Structural Insulated Panel Association (SIPA) is a non-profit association dedicated to increasing the use and acceptance of structural insulated panels (SIPs) in green, high performance building by providing an industry forum for promotion, communication, education, quality assurance, and technical and marketing research. SIPs are a high performance, panelized building system that offers superior thermal performance, air tightness, and durability for energy-efficient homes and commercial buildings.
Builders and design professionals seeking to reduce energy use and minimize the carbon footprint of their buildings utilize SIPs as a cost-effective solution for exterior wall and roof systems that also cuts down on framing time, lessens construction waste, and ensures greater jobsite quality control through prefabrication. SIPs are an enabling technology to meet to the Architecture 2030 Challenge for net-zero carbon neutral buildings today. Learn more at www.sips.org.
